So what is GoogleTap ''Extreme'' or ''Expert''? |
|
I'm seeing some comments about what the next generation of the original GoogleTap exactly does? I've updated GoogleTap.com to help explain better, but you can see it in practice today at CastleCops.com. The original GoogleTap: "GT utilizes PHP and Apache's mod_rewrite to modify all the URLs transparently to the web surfer. Everything is rewritten on the server-side. Making PHP-Nuke buffer its source code enables GT to automagically rewrite all matching URLs from their long version to the shorter version (while removing &sid where appropriate). This is what the web surfer sees on their browser when reading any dynamic page on your site. As they click these shortened links, Apache catches them, matches them, and rewrites them back to the original elongated version. Viola!"
All well and good, but how about "expert" or some refer to it as "extreme" googletap? "It is a new layer of beauty to the original GoogleTap architecture. It adds the titles of threads, forums, and categories directly into the URL. No more "forum1.html", but rather "f1-General_Site.html". And the best thing about it is the support for international characters. " The code is really simple and small (and portable!). Simply hover your mouse over the links in the following pages to see the dramatic results:
StartupList,
CLSID List,
Reviews,
Forums & Categories,
Topic IDs and Post IDs
Take note how subjects are now inside the URL. Here are some examples for International language support:
Unterstützung für Ad-Aware,
Ayuda para Ad-Aware,
Svensk Ad-Aware Support,
Welkom
This is entirely dymanically generated using GoogleTap as the foundation.
Another easy one reference spot to check it the Top module. And the creme da la creme to this is the way relative links are generated on the site:
aifind trojan
Notice how each link is relative preceded not by a "www" or a "http" but rather by the new CastleCops circle logo. Again, all dynamically generated on the fly, and no more opening new windows when clicking relative site links in the forums either. (This last one has been in production at CastleCops.com for many many months now).
