Patents: Computer Cops: Ideaflood owns patent on Subdomains!? |
|
Computer Cops recently found information on a company called Ideaflood that owns a US Patent on Subdomains and has recently been sending letters to small businesses requesting royalties. Will this bring small web hosting companies to an end? It certainly can have an adverse affect on PHP-Nuke hosting shops.

Personally this makes me laugh. I've been hearing of may stupid things later, this falls into the same catagory as that bloke who is trying to trademark the phrase: 'You're fired'.
Its a big joke, and one of the most stupid things I have heard in a long time.
Secondly: whos stupid idea was it to allow a patent on subdomains? Just about everysite on the internet uses sub-domains, they will be fighting a battle they can't win - so why do they bother?
(Actually I know: cause they are gready money-hungry - well I'm sure you know the rest!)
I'll think I go continue cursing something else now.
Thanks for reading my rant.
Brighten my day at bit. |

Sierra Vivendi is suposed to be presing charges, but that can take years...
Who is going to press charges for a service/application that belongs to nobody to begin with....? |
