PHP 5 rc 3 released - great news for the leading app: PHP-Nuke

As announced at PHP.net website the third Release Candidate of PHP 5 is finally here! Test it with PHPNuke and play with it - and use the great tool & dokukit wihch is allready avaliable. Developers Guide to PHP-Nuke with many subsections :: PHPNUKE-HowTo on karakas-online.

The move from Beta stage to RC stage means that PHP 5 is now feature complete, and is quite stable - stable enough for everyone to start playing with. Please travel over and see the full changelog hereand get the download right here. If you can test the newest PHP-Nuke 7xx with PHP 5, please share your experience with the nuke-community.

Some of the more major changes include:

  • PHP 5 features the Zend Engine 2. For a list of Zend Engine 2 changes, please visit this webpage;
  • XML support has been completely redone in PHP 5, all extensions are now focused around the excellent libxml2 library (see xmlsoft.org);
  • SQLite has been bundled with PHP. For more information on SQLite, please visit their website. ;
  • Streams have been greatly improved, including the ability to access low-level socket operations on streams. "
