Coppermine Photo Gallery (CPG) User Preferred for PHP-Nuke
ModulesNuke Cops ran a survey last quarter of 2003 on which photo gallery is the preferred choice of portal masters from our membership.

With nearly 50% of the votes, Coppermine is the preferred photo gallery.

See full results here. The membership has spoken.

However, the runners up also are worth mentioning. Each photo gallery serves a unique portal master and their tastes. Here at Nuke Cops we elected to go with Menalto Gallery. However we'll be trying out Coppermine ourselves at our themes test site: themesNC.

Going forward with our official bundle releases, I'm planning on incorporating at the minimum Coppermine. The masses have spoken.

not that i'm biased or anything (says the webmaster for a Menalto Gallery support site) ;) BUT, how accurate are these results? how do you know that users didn't "stuff" the ballot box? do you ensure that only one vote/IP address and/or username is allowed?

Indeed! Coppermine is the best - maybe not the easiest album proggie to install - but the best all the same. Nothing against all the rest, but most of them remind me of online shopping catalogs. If that's what you want - a photo catalog - great! However, I like artistic flair - a gallery, not a catalog. To me, that's the whole purpose, and the photo gallery should look just as good as the pictures themselves. To that end, nothing comes close to Coppermine Photo Gallery.

Example: My Coppermine Photo Gallery Install [www.lenon.com]

If someone has a GALLERY that looks better than Coppermine, let me know and I'll try it...

That's really good news! Just be sure to incorporate atleast version 1.2.2

My site uses CPG 1.2.2b and it's working out great! check it out: NeonAges [www.neonages.com]

If anybody has a gallery that
  1. looks as good as this. [coppermine.findhere.org]
  2. customizable as this. [coppermine.findhere.org]
  3. EASY to install as 1.2.2b (install program)
  4. one module that can be installed in either phpnuke, postnuke or MD-Pro.
  5. a module that can be install 100 times seperately (name=coppermine,name=coppermine2,name=art_gallery)
  6. I want to see too! Also compare it to $$$ galleries PS sorry for the double post I wanted my comments to be seen on main comment page.

I have never try anything else than Coppermine, but you don't need to actually install other galleries to know that Coppermine looks and works far better than any of them...

Hmmmm.
I would definitely still check out Gallery [gallery.menalto.com]. It is pretty whip ass since 1.4.1.
The install is definitely easier than coppermine.
The functionality of the admin tools are better.
It now supports voting on a per album basis.
Supports multimedia like movies and flash.
Has a standalone upload tool that runs in java and kicks ass.
Has a plug in to post directly from an iphoto album to the web.
Supports offline galleries.
It automatically inherits your sites theme, and still can run as stand alone.
I like coppermine because it runs in a database, and I can use SQL to tweak it.
Oh yea, it is an auto-install app if your host has fantastico installed.
although it is not a gallery, the easiest install ever is postcard direct [www.ginini.com.au]. Enter your site, your password, and it installs for you remotely. You don't even have to download the thing.

menalto has without a doubt the best upload options available -i can use
gallery remote
windows xp scanner and camera thingie(which can do pre upload resizing)
ftp upload
browser upload
zip uploading
side loading (server to server)

i can also do
photoprinting(4 services)
add an infinite amount of custom fields
slideshows
user permissions
voting & comments

i use menalto on voices but where its really put to the test is http://www.gabrielmyers.com ive got 330+ megs of digicamera pictures of my 11month old son archived so that freinds and family that don't live nearby can see him.

Yeah, I personally like Menalto Gallery too. All my friends and I use it on all our websites and another great thing about it is that it's just not limited to pictures, my buddy has got digital videos on his. Here take a look at what I mean: www.barrios16.com [barrios16.com]
