Use your sentinels and you understand the best way is to protect the source and use a protector system to secure admins by IP or block IP's overall |

So if the hacker creates an admin account for himself, he will be unable to use the admin panel because he has the wrong ip to access it.

if the hacker manages to create an admin account for himself im sure he will be able to allow his ip to access anyway...if hes good enough to create an admin..hes good enough to allow his ip |

I like them both.

I partially agree that these types of security measures should be built into the package itself but in reality, a determined hacker would simply find a hole (where there's a will, there's a way) and tunnel in.
We worried about hackers in the 80's with BBS's and all the modern improvements of today's internet haven't changed a thing. A hacker is going to hack.
1. Always assume the worst.
2. Never feel your impregnable.
3. Backup before you're hacked up.

Re: PHP-Nuke Security ToolsWhich (Score: 1) by jonmcc33 on Thursday, August 05 @ 00:39:00 CEST (User Info | Send a Message) | I added a scipt from Raven for the admin.php file. It's HTTP authentication so even if someone runs a script there's no chance they'll get into the admin control panel. It's worked good so far and my webhost tells me that people are running scripts against my site all the time. Why they do that I do not know. |

Re: PHP-Nuke Security ToolsWhich (Score: 1) by psa on Monday, September 13 @ 08:40:23 CEST (User Info | Send a Message) | Altough I did install Protector after being hacked by "Ali-hacker", my prefered solution has been to remove all files related to the administartion of admins. We are only 6 to have access to this area and I do prefer making changes directly in the database. I guess it's still not 100% proof but thought it's a good option. |

Sentinel however, loads of features - easyer to install and works just as well.
