Being that AI's account is inaccessable to him at the moment, he's asked me to pass on that NukeCops doesn't get anything from FB apart from the odd thank-you. Or at least NC didn't when he was still here.

Now what is this? After being away for a few days it looks like this has become a CopyrightCop-site, hunting and tracking down PHpNuke sites tat do not keep the copyright statement at the end of each page.
Looks like AI is not around anymore and that my simple question is if that´s also the end of any plans for a FreeNuke?
From what I have read up untill now it looks as if this thing is back at square one. |

Square one has never moved NC is here to support the Nuke Community in the best ways possible. A fork was only a possible alternative. Stay tuned - Great things are coming |

It's a bit worrying seeing a news article here announcing 6.7 which is still only for paying club members only. Does NC support this release ? Do people who believe in the true spiritual meaning of opensource have to pay to get this security fix ?
Does NC intend to keep ServicePacks to 6.5 gpoing that match the latest 6.7 ? |

That may be true, but we are trying to not circumvent FB's wishes here at NC. Please understand |

Thanks for pointing that out. I have removed it. That post was made BEFORE NC took a public stand against it. |

I agree with FreeBeer. All I ever see is wah wah wah about copyrights. Is that ALL we can ever discuss? Morgue going balistic bashing PhpICalendar, Some other newbies floating around like witch hunters. Seriously, its a losing battle, I surrendered and don't care about it much anymore. Why cant the rest of these people just move on to CONSTRUCTIVE discussions like how to hack the hell out of something? How to improve a module/block/function Ya Know, stuff that matters. That would really pique my interest.
Another of my 2 cents thrown in the pot. BTW, Raven, whats my current balance? |

You're getting close, that's for sure
Seriously, I agree and I will ask ZX about us taking a lower profile on the copyright issue. He's the boss, though, so I don't want him to cut my pay . |

My main problem right now with PHP-Nuke is that when a new version comes out, you have to re-install ALL the files and lose every single hack that you've made to the site.
They need to offer just an upgrade file that only updates the changed files.
There is no more upgrading in my future. I have a very hacked version 6.5 that I am happy with and don't want to do all that work again.
Explain to me how NukeCops will handle the updates and new versions. Will that be the same as PHP-Nuke?
The main thing is stopping the stupid loop of installing and hacking:
Install new version > hack it.
Install newer version > re-hack it.
Install newer version > re-hack it.
This is dumb, and we should only be downloading upgrade files that only change the updated files. |

Yep the rapid succession of versions is out of control. No considerations given to the end user in this regard. There is no reason the latest round of files couldn't have been offered as either an update or full install.
I guess its better then no updates but... not good enough IMHO!
I haven't and won't be using these new releases but ya all can consider secpak4 a thing of the past. No announcement was made but the facts seem to indicate future bug fixes might all come from the .org
Which has it good points but... get your wallets out! |

I'm asking you all to be patient for a little bit longer. Zhen will soon be making a very important news release that will hopefully explain what the future holds and will answer most, if not all of the speculation, and address many of these issues. There are some really exciting times ahead for NC and the Nuke Community as a whole ! |

You aren't, you rascal and my post was meant 'in general'. I totally agree about the machine gun releases. That is usually expected from new and fledgling software, not a mature one. So, if you can't resolve the problem then come up with an alternate medium, like diffs, of a sort. I'm working on that right now, not as NC, but Raven. |
