BlueBump Theme for 6.5 is now available again. |
|
avgjo writes "To the over 100 fellow PHP-Nukers who went to download the BlueBump Theme from my site and could not: The theme is now available again, but now with a little 'extra something'. See it and Download it here...
ThemeCentral (ThemeCentral.com) states in the original file download that this theme is to always have a link back to them, even when you modify it and redistribute it. The original file that I had downloaded did not have this information.
I was contacted by ThemeCentral to tell me that I had to put the link back in the upper right-corner where it belongs. I have done so in dispute, as to give everyone something to download when they come to get it.
They have also told me that I can be the new owner of this theme, but it will always need to have their return link. (???)
I am really not happy about going through all of these steps to give someone free advertising in a more dominant position on my site than what even PHP-Nuke requires!
I would really like to have a theme that looks similar to this one (without a return link). Does anyone have any ideas? If not, I will try to make a “GNU” one that can distributed in a manner that supports true open source. I have not ever made a theme before, so I may need someone to help. "

I would never display a theme's credits up there no matter what it looked like unless the designer paid ME. In the footer yes, up there no way. It's tacky and cheap looking. Are you sure ThemeCentral is the original creater? Did they give you solid proof or just merely say so?
It's funny how ThemeCentral wants a credit link on the top of people's pages, but had no problems at all tearing off PostNuke's credits at the footer of their own pages. Professionals? NOT!!
