Before getting banned, I want everyone to know that nukecops, to me, has been the best source of information on nuke that I have found anywhere in the world. But, it is also a placed filled with gurus or guru wannabees displaying a level of arrogance that sickens me.
Have you forgotten you too, once asked the same questions you are now trying to ignore?
Have you forgotten that you too, once had no idea what you were doing and turned to those who did?
Before you start acting like Gods, you must first become God-like, and it is doubtful any human on this planet shall ever achieve such a righteous position while in the physical form.
I am sure this will result in my being banned from nukecops forever, and if so will only prove my point. Better yet, this post will probably be deleted before the masses get a chance to see it. Not a problem, I have a copy.
I will miss the tips, tricks, mods, invaluable information and experience I have gained through the use of this site, but life must go on.
Moving on to my point.......below, find the first few lines in a news article on the main page posted 10/25/03 by mikem concerning what to do before posting a question in the forums..
Quote:
OK..time for a reminder.
Before anyone ever makes their first post in the Forums to ask for help, they need to
READ THIS!!!
This response is not directed at mikem or any one person or persons at nukecops, so hold on to your hats and act like the professionals you profess to be.
The following is a comment I posted, but wanted to be sure everyone had a chance to voice their opinion, as most don't read the comments of the articles.
Quote:
I am in total agreement with both sides of each comment posted and wish to offer yet one more negative, unfortunately.
The READ THIS page contains links to problems, yet is a problem in itself.
On the issue of User Status: Offline, links are offered with a "fix" stating the problem no longer exists.
If we can't find answers on nukecops, why should we click on links only to have to search yet again on someone else's site when it has been stated quite arrogantly that the problem has been resolved.
Each time the statement has been made that the problem has been resolved the fix is never posted anywhere.
It's like being called to dinner, only to find an empty plate.
If I want to get the run-around I just call my phone company and go through all the "Press 1 Now" messages until I finally get a human.....Say Good-bye and have dinner.
When someone asks a question, and you know it has been asked before reply to the question stating that it has been covered and answer can be found at: "the link to the post" or just state the fix.
Don't offer help and then ignore the people you have offered help to. My experience recently has been that on three separate occasions help has been offered and when I respond with the necessary information the PM, Emails and Forum replies fall silent. There is something to be said for that.
It seems a defensive posture has been taken at nukecops for some reason and seems to be growing exponentially. The attitude is abusive and the comments insulting. The offers of help being answered with silence is unforgiving. If you don't wish to help, don't offer any.
With the brain power that can be found in the combined resources of everyone that moderates and/or uses nukecops, it would seem a more professional attitude would be taken towards your customers and to each other.
That's right, if you are going to run this as a business, you need to develop a customer relation that is positive. Instead, the customer relations here are growing worse by every post.
If nukecops is indeed going the way of a paid service, then you would be well advised to reconsider your methods of dealing with your client base as you may find you will be moderating your moderators.
Again, I will miss the use of nukecops.
I wish you well in your endeavors, but my time is to valuable to waist waiting for a dead horse.

you coulda just mentioned the link was broken. one of the admins will locate and update the downloads within the next few days -i'll send a pm to ZX about it (nukescripts has done some major redesigning and the links have prolly been removed)
i honestly dont see why you are approaching this with the attitude of 'before getting banned' -unless you've posted something much worse than an im 'frustrated with the attitude/level of support provided here'-type post elsewhere (or plan to) i see no reason why we would ban you.
Have you forgotten you too, once asked the same questions you are now trying to ignore? No. thats why im here right now
Have you forgotten that you too, once had no idea what you were doing and turned to those who did? no but i am thankful i had this resource(and others) or else i wouldn't have learned half of i have
im not a god, nor is anyone on this site (although i have zapped some posts from people who thought they were)
poppafrog, i have never had a problem with you personally that warranted the RTFM response. but if you could see some of the duplicate posts, posts with no relevant troubleshooting information that we delete, lock or move out of the public eye daily, i believe you might understand why we have to stress http://nukecops.com/postt1.html
as far as the going the way of a paid service thing - i believe thats just a rumor started by people that think sites that accept donations are somehow hurting them.
i'm not gonna delete your post, recommend you be banned, flame you, or allow this thread to turn into a flamewar against you.
we all get frustrated with support from time to time and nukecops is no exception. but please understand that if i have 5 minutes between tasks at work or home to answer questions on nukecops i WILL refer people who refuse to search, don't remember to search, or just use bad searching techniques to postt1.html so that hopefully i can answer those unique issues that popup from time to time and get those who have done their homework back up and running.

A Story To Live By
by Ann Wells (Los Angeles Times)
My brother-in-law opened the bottom drawer of my sister's bureau and lifted out a tissue-wrapped package. "This," he said, "is not a slip. This is lingerie." He discarded the tissue and handed me the slip. It was exquisite; silk, handmade and trimmed with a cobweb of lace. The price tag with an astronomical figure on it was still attached. "Jan bought this the first time we went to New York, at least 8 or 9 years ago. She never wore it. She was saving it for a special occasion. Well, I guess this is the occasion." He took the slip from me and put it on the bed with the other clothes we were taking to the mortician. His hands lingered on the soft material for a moment, then he slammed the drawer shut and turned to me. "Don't ever save anything for a special occasion. Every day you're alive is a special occasion."
I remembered those words through the funeral and the days that followed when I helped him and my niece attend to all the sad chores that follow an unexpected death. I thought about them on the plane returning to California from the Midwestern town where my sister's family lives. I thought about all the things that she hadn't seen or heard or done. I thought about the things that she had done without realizing that they were special.
I'm still thinking about his words, and they've changed my life. I'm reading more and dusting less. I'm sitting on the deck and admiring the view without fussing about the weeds in the garden. I'm spending more time with my family and friends and less time in committee meetings. Whenever possible, life should be a pattern of experience to savor, not endure. I'm trying to recognize these moments now and cherish them.
I'm not "saving" anything; we use our good china and crystal for every special event-such as losing a pound, getting the sink unstopped, the first camellia blossom.
I wear my good blazer to the market if I feel like it. My theory is if I look prosperous, I can shell out $28.49 for one small bag of groceries without wincing. I'm not saving my good perfume for special parties; clerks in hardware stores and tellers in banks have noses that function as well as my party-going friends'.
"Someday" and "one of these days" are losing their grip on my vocabulary. If it's worth seeing or hearing or doing, I want to see and hear and do it now. I'm not sure what my sister would have done had she known that she wouldn't be here for the tomorrow we all take for granted. I think she would have called family members and a few close friends. She might have called a few former friends to apologize and mend fences for past squabbles.
I like to think she would have gone out for a Chinese dinner, her favorite food. I'm guessing-I'll never know.
It's those little things left undone that would make me angry if I knew that my hours were limited. Angry because I put off seeing good Friends whom I was going to get in touch with-someday.
Angry because I hadn't written certain letters that I intended to write-one of these days. Angry and sorry that I didn't tell my husband and daughter often enough how much I truly love them.
I'm trying very hard not to put off, hold back, or save anything that would add laughter and luster to our lives.
And every morning when I open my eyes, I tell myself that it is special.
Every day, every minute, every breath truly is...a gift from God.

Frankly I don't know what to say, so I thought a little nice article above would be a good starting point just to set the mood.
Lets just say, Nuke Cops is here, for $500 a month. Personally, I do this because I love it. And I'll continue to pay that much (and more starting next year) because I love it. Its got nothing to do with anything else. The only reason why I do this, is because I love it. It moves me.
I'm a moderator on sites that are 10 times as big as Nuke Cops. All the big sites share the same problems. But you know what... Its not my concern if folks stay or leave. I would be running this site even if we had only 1 member on a day. Because I love it.
It just so happens, that 50-70 new registered members per day occur. Why? I don't know.
I'd like to think of it as "we're a global community". And if that's the answer, then so be it.
I feel the same way about Nuke and nuke support today as I felt over a year ago. And that goes right to my core being. This doesn't change over time.
I don't know who comes off here as being a god like creature. We all, everyone of us, have had bad experiences in our lives, and good experiences in our lives. Its a small world with lots of people who share the same interests and contradictions. Everyone deserves the same respect and appreciation, and understanding, and empathy, and sympathy, and happiness, and friendship. To me, its never a question of power or god-like wannabes. To me, its just a simple answer... we're all here because we all love this stuff.
Now I cannot speak for anyone else other than myself. Nuke Cops as defined by me may be viewed the same way by others, and different by the rest. That's ok... you see, its called diversity. We all come from various cultures, backgrounds, upbringings, and trials and tribulations.
So the question is, are you happy in your life? I am. And you know something else? I'd still be happy in my life even if Nuke Cops closed up shop, or even if the Internet shut down.
I don't define myself by Nuke Cops. I don't define myself by Nuke. I don't define myself by the Ford truck I drive. I define myself simply:
I love who I am.
I am proud of who I am.
I love my life.
Everything else is just plain fun and happiness. I don't sweat the small stuff, or at least I try not to. There are times when I need to put my foot down. But they are rare, as it should be.
So ... to those upset about nuke cops, or phpnuke, or any product or service like microsoft, or linux... either jump in and help make it better, or try something else. Why would anyone want to continue using something they don't like?
If it hurts, stop!
So, life goes on. And we all do our best.

afc,
I see little point in bringing something up which is long since past, unless of course you are still having an issue with it. In which case say your peace and be done with it.
The simple fact is that nukescripts is NOT an official download site. If people choose to download "enhanced" versions of Nuke from there or anywhere else they do so at their own risk. We do not have the code, we do not know what has or has not been modified. Frankly with over 8000 members on this site, working on my own sites, creating/editing themes, working out bugs, personal life etc I have enough other things to keep me busy that I don't have the slightest desire to go download the code and try to sort through it. Based on the error I would have thought the same thing, and it wouldn't have mattered where it came from.
We do try to support scripts from other places, however without having the code at hand it makes it a little difficult.
Before you start telling someone, especially someone with a knowledge base like ZX, they should ask what vs and where, perhaps you should go back and read the first post of that link again. It states quite clearly what vs and where it was downloaded from.
There have been countless scripts released from many many sources that have malicious code in them, holes large enough you could drive a semi through them etc. Again if someone chooses to download from a non-official release site they do so at their own risk. If they don't know enough php or any scripting language to be able to read it and make sure there is nothing wrong with it before they install it, then they are pretty much at that sites mercy. It may not have been a malicious code, but there was obviously something wrong with it.
Why exactly did you feel the need to post that link and bring up a dead issue?
