1. How can I turn off the registration feature while I am modifying the site?

2. How can I center my text in the news articles on the main page? I have tried using the <center> tags, but it does not work. Also wondering how to add images in news articles.

Thanks a bunch.

1) You could deactivate the Your_Account module. That would, however, stop legitimate users from logging in.

2) Suggest you use
Code:

<div align="center">

You will need to make sure the "div" tag (and the "img" tag for images) is allowed in your config.php
There are numerous posts on how to do this.

If I disable the "Your Account" module, will I be able to log in?

There are no users on the site other than myself, I just want to make sure it stays that way until I can finish doing what I want to do with it.

I also tried to use the tag for center like you showed and that did not work either. I also checked the config.php file and it is allowed. not sure what I am doing wrong.

what version of nuke are you using and what exactly are you trying to do in the news give me the code your using to try and center your img.
here is what your config should look like.
Quote:
$AllowableHTML = array("b"=>1,"i"=>1,"u"=>1,"div"=>2,"img"=>2,"a"=>2,"em"=>1,"br"=>1,"strong"=>1,"blockquote"=>1,"tt"=>1,"li"=>1,"ol"=>1,"ul"=>1);

this is what I use to show and center an img.
Quote:
<div align="center"><img alt="" src="http://yoursite.com/images/yourpic.gif" /></div>

Here is my website, so you can see what I am talking about.

www.thetidewateralliance.net/holocron

I was able to center the text in the top text area.

And now that I have an image in my news article, I need to find a way to raise the text next to it so that the actual news article is with the image, not under it.

You will need to change the theme to either float the topic image or put it in its own table column. Most browsers by default will align text and images on the bottom.

<img src="url for image" style="float:left; margin: 3px;">

But my nuke site does not seam to let me
