I just upgraded from 7.3 to 7.8 and now cannot login to my admin cp. I cycled through each upgrade script and each executed successfully.
When I enter my admin name and password it creates a url like this:
my_nuke_dir/.php
I don't know if this is a result of the upgrade or recovering from a site hack just before I upgraded.
What is weird is that right after upgrading I was able to login to the admin cp but I noticed that some of the admin links were malformed as above. I just added the admin to the .php and the links worked. but after logging out I could not log back in.
