I don't recommend 7.9. Too much untested code released by FB. And he charges for it.

If you still want to update, overwrite your files with the new ones. And run the upgrade script. That's all

Use your old config.php file, put your database data into the new config.php

As there is no list of just changed files, you will have to overwrite all the files
