I've been working on the 7.2 clan pack. http://nukecops.com/article3012.html When It came to install nsn groups 1.6.1 it says I need chatserv 2.6 installed. No where in any file does anyone ever write which versions of anything is applied or included. Frustrating. Even the author of php nuke doesn't write version numbers in his files. Darn sloppy if you ask me.
I know that 2.6 is not installed from the code difference in block_modules.php compared to a 7.2 with it. But some version of it has been applied to this 7.2 clan pack. Where can I find out the changes between one version of chatserv and the next so I can apply those specific changes? That documentation isn't with any chatserv download I've found.
NSN does it right, provide a text file that says Find this line.. Change to this.. Instead of already applying the changes to an entire group of files and expect people to overwrite their own files with them or install a completely fresh nuke just to get the updated version seems ridiculous. I'm so far into working on this 7.2 clan pack version that it's practically too late to start over and turn to another port like e107 that probably handles it's addons a little more cleanly and professional. I mean shouldn't Burzi be provided security patches to his various versions of his own software and not a gazzilion JoeCoders. Well this turned into a rant and not a question

Can you link us to this? I'm not sure what chatserv 2.6 refers to exactly... chatserv (the person) and his Patched 2.6 files?
The downloads on nukefixes.com and nukeresources.com both have this on their hompages. Other addons depend on this being installed.

PHP-Nuke Patched Series
This is a project that attempts to make PHP-Nuke more secure by adding variable validation to the data that comes from all sql queries as well as the one that goes into the database. All sec-fix patches have been incorporated into these.
Current version: 2.6 - 11/05/04
It would seem I'd have to download the 7.2 zip and compare every page and copy and paste the code into every page of a live site. Then test it after all pages have been edited. A debugging nightmare if something doesn't work. If only the author of phpnuke could have included such a basic feature as user groups in the first place, sigh.

Yea - that usually goes with Patching sites that are already significantly modded. You can use a file difference program to help - its a pain, but security for your effort.
