Hello all, I'm on a bit of an information gathering excercise at the moment in preperation for upgrading from 5.5 to 6.5

Here's a few things from searching these forums that I think I should do...

1 ) Back up EVERYTHING
2 ) Upload all files from 6.5, overwriting existing 5.5 files
3 ) Upload the upgrade5.5-5.6 file
4 ) Point browser at upgrade file
5 ) Upload the upgrade5.6-6.0 file
6 ) Point browser at upgrade file
7 ) Upload the upgrade6.0-6.5 file
8 ) Point browser at upgrade file

Questions...

1 ) Themes: What about exisiting 5.5 themes, I have made quite a few modifications to my 5.5 thems, will these work, or do I need to modify them, or is it best to start them again

2 ) My EGallery: The only addon module I use to great extent is My EGallery, will all existing media and comments still be in place? and will exisiting 2.7.9(pipboy) version work with 6.5

3 ) When upgrading how can I display something to users saying "The Website is being upgraded at the moment, please come back later" or similar message

4 ) Forum: I use the default forum which came with 5.5 (Splatt?) will the topics and messages be carried over into the new PHBB forum or will I have to do something else for this to happen?

Have I missed anything? or got anything wrong? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks

1. There will be modifications needed to be made for the themes to work properly wiht nuke 6.5 due to the change in the PHP-Nuke copyright line and the way it works.

2. Download the newer My_eGallery port from our downloads section and use that.

3. create a file called index.html that contains whatever you want (write it in html). This should override the index.php file.

4. I think, but I'm not sure, that the upgrade scripts will transfer the forum data, but you might need to use an importer (chatserv has posted a link to one somewhere)

Anyone know what I need to change in my themes? I've read that I have to change the unames/usernames bit, what else is there?

I've been looking for the forum importer but can't find it at the moment, am still looking though! anyone??

Thanks

JC

Still no luck finding the script or importer for the Splatt Forums

Do I need one though?

Has anyone gone from 5.5 with to 6.5 and kept their forum posts from the original Splatt forum?

Can I check with anyone (AI?) about the My_eGallery...

When I upgrade do I just overide all my current MEG (2.7.9) files with the new 6.5 port?

Or is there an upgrade procedure?

Cheers
