It's basically very simple to install, did you follow the README instructions and amend the files it states in there? Which version of Sentinel are you trying to install, the latest?
If you didnt, then that's probably why you couldnt install it properly.
You need to upload the files in the directory structure as stated in the README.
Make sure you place includes/sentinel.php at the top of your mainfile.php immediately after the first <?
You need to alter your includes/javascript.php file and add the code in the README file
Then point your browser at http://yourdomain/nsnst.php and install Sentinel. Once it's installed delete the nsnst file from your server. (if for some reason the nsnst.php doesnt work for you read the README for the alternative.
Then just follow the onscreen instructions and setup Sentinel in the Sentinel control panel.
It is important to read everything in the README though, as you need to do everything it says in there.
After it's installed it's easy to setup and upgrade.
If you need any further help I'd recommend going to Ravenphpscripts as that is one of the official Sentinel support sites.
good luck!

No, the correct code is:
Code:
include("includes/sentinel.php");
