This would be a huge benefit to both my sites, the ability to ban a user either temp or perm from any module on the site. Logging of this action in the user notes would also be swell including an email being generated and sent to the member and editable response (user might be banned from PM system for instance).

Yes the indexing helped to increase its performance... much more noticeable.

As to the pro mod system, that would work but I'm dealing with tens of thousands of users. I would only need to block one or two from a module instead of protect a module.

For instance... the PM module... it should stay open on my sites, but if someone is abusing it, I can block access to it for that member.

Would be a big help on sites. Very Happy

hmmmm... set it up like you would a router, but with a twist?

overall ban but allowing SOME people access (like to an admin function)

allow:this guy
allow:this guy too
deny:all

overall allow, but deny abusers

deny:this guy
deny: this guy too
allow:all

having choices is always nice Smile

What about 2 selectionboxes and in betweeen 4 options

  1. Move all to left <<
  2. Move all to right >>
  3. Move selected <
  4. Move selected >

On the left the "allowed" members and on the right the disallowed.
Only the disallowed will be stored in a table

Think big numbers here though... I have nearly 35,000 users at computer cops. If I only wish to ban 5 people, it would be good to filter on that only, versus allowing 34,995 into private messages.

Just an idea, perhaps with a module such as NSN Groups you can deny module access to a specific group.
Then you can add users to that group. You can have their group membership expire automaticly after 1 week (or whatever time) for temporary bans.

I still haven't fully installed that module, so I don't know how well it works, but it sounds like a possiblity.

This wish is granted Wink

It's easy and plain. I start from there. The more feature the more bugs. Will offcourse develop it more after the release (if needed). Very Happy

That hack already exists and is implemented in CPG-Nuke it's named "phpBB USER GROUPS INTEGRATION v1" by http://paladin.intaleather.com.au/

It gives you the option to show phpBB group X a special module or block
