Symbol doesnt change when there is a new post....stays as no new posts....

It wont get new posts since last visit...says there are no new posts since your last visit....

It also doesnt put up the no avatar avatar if someone doesnt link to one....just the ugly red x

could all of these things be related?

Probably but there are 2 or 3 things wrong with your post.

First of all this is the place to post fixes you find, not a place to really ask questions.

Second, your question while detailing alot of problems with forums, doesn't state a whole lot of things that would be needed if you wanted help.

1)First of all I would suggest informing people what versions of phpNuke and whatever forum software you are running.
2)Also any errors or warnings you are getting would be a big help.
3)Make sure all of your permissions are set properly
4)Also what steps you have taken to resolve the issue on your own, i.e. Downloading the latest Nuke Cops CVS will usually/sometimes be a BIG help.
