I realize you probably get this all the time but...

I have read the help file, I have created the DB properly, I have modified the config file every which way but loose. I still get this message when I run analyzer:

MySQL Error: Access denied for user: 'buckman_buckman@localhost' to database 'buckman_nuke'

buckman is my username. Here is what my config file looks like:

$dbhost = "localhost";
$dbuname = "buckman_buckman";
$dbpass = "********";
$dbname = "buckman_nuke";
$prefix = "nuke";
$user_prefix = "nuke";
$dbtype = "MySQL";

I have also tried this:

$dbhost = "localhost";
$dbuname = "buckman";
$dbpass = "********";
$dbname = "nuke";
$prefix = "nuke";
$user_prefix = "nuke";
$dbtype = "MySQL";

I have also tried this:

$dbhost = "localhost";
$dbuname = "buckman";
$dbpass = "********";
$dbname = "nuke";
$prefix = "nuke";
$user_prefix = "buckman";
$dbtype = "MySQL";

I have also tried etc, etc, etc. You get the idea.

Am I just being dumb and missing some fundamental thing here. I am experienced installing CGI scripts, bu this is the first time I have tried to build one of these infernal databases.

Help much appreciated.

But, did you make sure to assign your username to your database? I know I forgot to do that, and it gave me a similar message.

I did it in my host's control panel; where you go to create the new database and user.

Hope this helps!

Mmmmm. Update on the situation.

I changed the case in $dbtype = "MySQL"; to 'mysql' after reading a tutorial. Man that kind of thing is frustrating.

I still get the error in analyze though.

But this time I can bring up the index page with NEW and IMPROVED error messages. Progress?

I think I am more lost than before.

change mysql to MySQL

It's case sensitive as it quite clearly states in the config.php file.
