Hi

I have recently changed my site at 14uhorseracing.co.uk from a static html site with very good google rankings (page 1 on all but 1 of my chosen keyword phrases) to phpnuke 6.7

Google has currently entered its dance mode so as usual I went to check the likely movements in my position on www1,www2,www3 Google only to find that my rating will be serverly hit by the move to dynamic pages. This was not unexpected as I was fully aware of the possibilty.

I am now at the stage with the site of adding content and therefore decided to try Google Tap. I downloaded GT 0.5 to use on my Nuke 6.7 site (a big thankyou to all involved in this as it will be a godsend if I can get it to work).

I know nothing about php so the first thing I did was to find the sessions.php file to check the code that needed altering as per the GT download. However, I have found that the code I have in my existing sessions.php has already been updated with GT's sessions.php code.

Obviously the 6.7 nuke I downloaded must have already had the GT code change done. A pleasant suprise as I was not looking forward to hacking the code around.

My site however, is not showing the .html url extensions. I then checked the header file in nuke 6.7 against the header file supplied with GT and they are completely different.

The totaly thick question is... Do I need to replace the header, footer and htaccess files with the GT ones to get this to work? Or do I add the GT code to the existing files?

I would really apreciate some guidence if you can spare the time.

Thanks

Terry

Hi Terry you can try using header.php, footer.php, and .htaccess from http://cvs.nukecops.com.

Thanks

Backup the existing ones and try the new ones.

Ok

I change footer and header to .php. I copied the conents of the htaccess file into the old one.

When going to the site and accessing content I get a 404 error on all.

I have put the originals back and can access all again.

Any ideas?

So you are running the original GT just fine?

Hi Zhen

This is me being thick again...

Are you saying that what I already have is working? (Can't see any pages that have .html) or are you asking if I am using an earlier version of GT?

Thanks

Terry

Hi, if you place the GT files into the system and it doesn't work, then my fear is you don't have mod_rewrite enabled for Apache. Can you ask your host if you do?

Yep mod_rewrite is not enabled on my hosts servers. Now that is a pain.

They say there are alternative methods that can be used to do the same thing with the htaccess file. They don't say what methods though.

Anyone know how this can be achieved by a non php person?

All help gratefully received.

Terry
