Add user gives blank page and no user added

I have a fresh nuke install have tried both 7.6 and 8.0 both give me the same problem, when I try to add a user through admin.php, when I click add I geta blank page, looking at the user table shows no new user created.

Any help much appreciated!

I am localhost
apache
mysql
php
phpmyadmin
php-nuke
(all latest releases)

A blank page usually indicates an error. Enable error reporting and check your error logs

error log is on in config. no errors on screen, apache server log shows no error, if that is not the log file you mean please inform.
