Just added the File Download module to the site (the one that came with nuke 8.0), and I was looking at how it seems to work.
When a user uploads a file for consideration, is there a way for him/her to browse his local machine and upload from his local machine, or does the upload have to come from the URL of another server? I noticed it defaults to a starting http://.
Insights, please?

Nope the standard Downloads module does not include an upload feature. I believe there are some replacement modules you can try... an Enhanced Downloads with uploading capabilities
