Like everyone else I have problems with spam:
- bots submitting hundreds on 'add download' requests
- feedback form abuse
- forum posting bot abuse
- submit news bot attacks
- and so on.
I just wondered if anyone had attempted, or had, a generic authentication fix?
What I mean by this is a section of code, which can be inserted at key points within Nuke functionality to:
- requre the user to re-submit their userid/password to post/etc
or
- require the user to enter the captcha (security image) code.
An alternative might be a module which could be called from those key points.
Has anyone done anything like this?

For everything? No. But RavenNuke has integrated a much better CAPTCHA.
In terms of bots, do you have Sentinel installed? That will stop many of them
No Sentinel... but I'll take a look at the Captcha there.
I just got asked to validate here at NukeCops for this post incidentally! I wonder if they would share that code?

Interesting. Every now and then I get a bunch of spam link submissions on my site. I had added a separate logging feature for events I wanted loggged, so I added an 'event' whenever a user suggests a link, which includes their name and IP. It didn't seem to be a user doing it, but I have nuke set to not allow anon users to suggest links, so I was a bit baffled by where they were comming from. So now it should pick up an IP when it's done and I can add it to the ban list.
