I have no experience with Javascript, so I hope this isn't too much to ask, but I was wondering if anyone more knowledgeable of javascript would know how to add in an auto refresh capability. I am not a big fan of having to manually refresh the page in order to view new posts in the shoutbox, and if there were an auto refresh solely for the javascript, it would prove to be a huge convenience. I appreciate the idea evaders, only one main problem that I've found with AJAX scripts. From what I have seen in testing AJAX shoutboxes, I cannot find one that pulls from the database. I would like to have a shoutbox that does not require the user to submit their info, rather, have it acquire the user's info from the database. The main reason for desiring this is because of impersonation of admins, which some of the less mature viewers of the website would exploit the minute it is installed. Any good ideas for any shoutboxes that require info being pulled from the database?
