ok.
I've emailed Invision requesting permission to port the invision powerboard to a php-nuke module (as is required by the terms and conditions of their licence agreement).
What I need to know is how popular it'd be if i did port the IPB forum.
If you don't know what the IPB forums look like, I'm running the standard version here
Vote above.

I use IB also. It's maybe the most robust Forum script out there.
Will your port be incorporated fully the way phpBB is with the new nuke format?
Will the skinning engine technology in IB be ported over too? |

I doubt I'll incorporate it quite as fully as the phpBB forums are integrated into Nuke (that'd take some serious re-coding which I'm not willing to do in a first-release port).
All the stuff that's in the IPB forums will remain in the IPB forums (even though some of it may have to be modified for the combined users table).

ok, I've got permission to do the port itself (aparently it's in the licence agreement I agreed to originally) but i'm still waiting to hear back about distributing it.

Interesting I can't say I'd want to switch now but I like IB. Used it on one site. It seems to evolve at a faster pace then .... the competition. |

I dunno that I'll be using it myself yet, I'm still playing around with it on a test site that I've got running specifically for it's stand-alone version.
Some people expressed an interest in it though, hence why it's on my project list.

Sorry, I just got word back from Inivision 2night, and the port's a No-Go cause I'm not licenced to distribute it, and they're refusing me permission to do so too.
Being that I intend on using phpBB (especially cause I've spent so much time fixing the damn thing) I'll not bother with the IPB port full stop.

Please do. I really like this portal but I'm waiting for a mod like this before I install it. |

like I said back in February, I can't distribute it cause I'm not licenced to, so there's no point in my doing the port, cause nobody'd use it if I did. I'm not going to be using it cause phpBB is gr8, and nobody else could use it cause I couldn't distribute it

I agree with you phpbb is great. When I first upgraded to 6.5 it was very frustrating because I had to rebuild my site based on the new db structure, now that I have it rebuilt I realize it was worth the effort because the forum is perfect. I know I won't be upgrading to any more phpnuke versions if the forum change because I really like phpbb and I don't want to rebuild the site again, alot was lost but alot was regained in return. Assuming if you had the permission to distribute IBF that would require reconstruction of the db. Am I correct? |

like I've said 3 times now, Invision are not giving me permission to distribute IPB.
Don't get me wrong, IPB is a very nice forum, but I prefer phpBB personally, and even though I *could* do the port and submit it to IPB for distribution from them, I don't want to do a port that I'm not going to use and I can't distribute on my own terms
