I'm recieving some emails asking me to port themes for Coppermine Gallery to match the requestor's PHPNuke theme and they'll pay me for it. Most of the theme are nukemods themes.
Several things that I know if I'm porting themes are:
I must obtain permission from the original authors
I must make it available for public download
All copyrights and credits must remain intact. I must make it clear the origin of the original theme
The big question is :
Is it OK to make money by porting free themes?
I really need your opinion on this.

The only illegality you need to concern yourself with is selling free software.
Don't charge money for providing the free themes, charge for your time in porting the free themes.
Offer your services, not the product for sale.
I can't charge your for PHP-Nuke, but I can charge to install it for you.
fwiw.

This is the answer I'm expecting.
I'm porting theme in my free time, for fun and sure I will give it to the community.
But if someone said, "Can you do this particular theme first? I need it for my site and I'll pay you for that." and I agree to port that theme, it is okay for me to get $$$ from this guy, right?
