I am trying to do a fresh install of Nuke 6.0, on Linux with a MySQL
database.

I have manually created the database using the nuke.sql script, and using
mysql I can see that the objects are in the database. I have checked and rechecked
the values in config.php, and I think they are right.

When I point my browser at index.php or admin.php I get a blank page,
and when I select view source I see:

<html><body></body></html>

When I download and point my browser at analyzer, I get:

Parse error: parse error, unexpected $ in /home/WWW/phpnuke/html/analyze.php on line 1089

Any ideas would be appreciated!

I made the changes, but I still have the same problem. Since I didn't know php.ini
existed, I have some more things to explore now. Thanks for the suggestion.

Okay, I found the problem. It turns out I didn't have PHP and MySQL properly installed, in particular I didn't have the proper modules and shared libraries working together.

Idea A useful error message from PHPNuke would have helped a lot, something along the lines of "Cannot connect to database..."
