I moved my site from 5.2 to 6.8, applying each upgrade file in order with very little problems. Note: you should not apply the 56-60 upgrade twice... you end up with duplicate entries in blocks and modules tables.

Anyway, since the upgrade I cannot log in as an administrator. I don't get any error message but after I click login, I just get returned to the login panel again. It doesn't seem to make any difference if I use a real/fake id, real/fake password or mistype the security code. No error message, just a refresh of the panel.

I added a new superuser id using phpMyAdmin directly to the _authors table and also tried setting all the admin flags on an existing admin id in the table. Still no luck.

Analyze.php runs clean with just a warning about MySQL vulnerability (which my ISP won't address until someone actually exploits it!).

I've verified that the critical files are 666 and the rest 644 with all directories at 755.

I am at a loss to figure out what is happening. Any clues?

Rob

Amazing what some sleep will do... I exported the _authors table, emptied it and then tried the admin login. It propmpted me to create a new superuser and like magic the admin panel came up! Putting back the other 4 admins information was pretty trivial. They did lose their passwords but that's no big deal.

Now I've just got to figure out why the changes to config.php doen through 'Preferences' don't want to stick... I just get kicked out to the home page of the site...
