This may sound like a strange question and it really is but I am having a issue with my Hosting Provider and their excuse was:
"Within our shared environment, we attempt to provide support for the most widely used and common technologies."
They are still using phpMyAdmin 2.6.2pl1 and MySQL 5.0.27 from 05/05/05 and was really needing to know so I can relay to my Host what version is the most common in the community. You can check your version within your phpMyAdmin or it tells you on the login screen. Oh the reason I am getting this info is I have run into multiple issues with just about all the newer versions of PhP-Nuke and trying to prove that it IS in fact an issue on there side and they need to update is like pulling teeth.. One of the main issues is when loading up the .sql file it comes back with the "Line to long for tables" error and various other DB issues.. Please help a fellow nuke user in his endeavor to right the wrongs of corporate strangleholds.. |

My web host uses now phpMyAdmin 2.9.2 and MySQL 4.1.1. Prior this they used pMA 2.6.4, which I had certain problems with. I then installed my own more recent version of phpMyAdmin on my web space and it worked very well. It is an alternative for you to do that. |

Ive heard of that before, installing on your webspace but not sure how to do that... Could you point me to the starting place to check it out, very interesting to me to do that... |

Thanks, Im heading there now... I currently run XAMMP on both my Desktop and Laptop (current version with phpMyAdmin 2.11.0) but I know I can not run that from webspace... Dont think I can... |

No, you can't use the XAMMP phpMyAdmin om your web site. You must install your own there. |

I did it three times last night and kept getting the same error message...
Error: #2003 Unable to connect to server
Guess I have ALOT more reading to do... |

I have searched in a phpMyAdmin forum about this error and it seems that MySQL is not functioning properly or it is the wrong port. It don't seem to be a phpMyAdmin issue.

Thanks for the info and I have read a few of the post and replies.. I would like to ask a few other questions about this but obviously this is a bit off subject of this thread so Ill start a new one on phpMyAdmin.. Thanks again. |
