my question for some prolly is simple but im clueless and tired of being beaten to death verbally by my web host who is a jackass to say the least, so ive come here to hopefully ascertain an answer
i currently have a webpage that i run 1 thing on and i want to take that url put a /mvp on it and be able to have another page exclusivly for my baseball related stuff, now all i want to do is use the exact stuff i use on my main page as the building blocks for this page and of course add new pics and stuff , its just i dont know how to get their.
Ive created my mvp directory & need to know what copies of stuff do i put in their so basically i start with an exact duplicate of my main page to be crafted into my baseball page?
Any help is greatly appreciated |

Well if you're using a PHP script (like phpNuke)...
Copy the files into your new directory
Copy the database into a new database
Set your database configuration to point to the new database.

ok , I have taken every single file from the public html folder and have put it in my new mvp directory.
so basically wen i type in my webpage add the /mvp i would hope to see the exact replica of my original that from their i can modify more to baseball stuff in general, but to do this i have to "point" sumthin to sumwere?, and this is were i would like to kindly ask for some assistance, im familiar with editing the files and some minor code
Another question has just popped up as i was gonna hit submit & thats registration & forums stuff, if say a registered member from my main site goes to the /mvp one will he be registered their or will he have to do it again specifically for the add on page?, And do groups or webpage access work on seperatly in this instance?
Thanks for any help or insight into this madness =) |

2 nd means that you use phpMyAdmin of the old site to make an export of the old database in the form of a sql-file. This backup sql-file you use with phpMyAdmin of the new site to make a copy of the old database with import.
3 rd means that if you in the new site have a different database name or password for it you must make a change to reflect this in the config.php of the new site. |

I think you must check the box Save as file below on the first page in order to get a backup. |

yes i do have that uploaded
Let me recap what im tryin to accomplish again just to make sure were on the same page.
I run a madden league, its url is
www.smashmouthmadden.net
What i want to do now is start up something for MVP baseball using this link
www.smashmouthmadden.net/mvp
Ive created the mvp folder in the directory & have copied every single file from the original directory into that, ive also copied and then imported the sql tables from my madden page into a new mvp database as well.
So i think ( n i say that with a grain of salt =] ) that i have done everything to be able to type in www.smashmouthmadden.net/mvp and have a duplicate of my original site i can then convert to baseball stuff but i need to know why i get that error or if theirs like anything in these index php files i have to edit to make it work?
Thanks again guys for giving me some insight into this =) |
