Ok........ Firstly I cannot Log in on my old account so excuse me if you do not know me.
I have been a little concerned lately that some people seem disillusioned with certain scripts for PhP-Nuke. I have recently 'for example' searched for a patched version of php-nuke that matches a patched version of Approved Membership.
It seems the two highly experienced coders involved are struggling to match their versions for various reasons. While I can get patched AM for say 7.6 with Chatservs 2.9 or 3.1 patches, I cannot get 7.6 with the equal patches !! Only 3.0 or 3.2 ........ And then if I did find them I would still have a theme issue to deal with.

I don't really want to use 7.7, 7.8 or 7.9 as I have managed to secure 7.6 enough to deter the smallest script kiddies and it does everything I want it to.
I also don't feel that using any later version will benefit me as I feel that as long as I do my backing up etc properly, thats about as secure as I'll ever be. The later versions also seem to play havock on my html scripts as well. It seems placing html in the content or blocks isn't a straight forward task, and php-nuke removes the script, even simple tags for images etc.
Why should I change to a later version that has no major advantages ???

When are the developers of PHP-Nuke going to sit back and take a good look at the scripts and what they are doing? I understand a lot of people do a lot of good coding for PHP-Nuke and I'm not knocking anyone, but PHP-NUke needs a massive jump forward as it seems to have a new version every 5 minutes that has changed little from the last one.

As an example, I downloaded 7.8 yesterday. The phpbb was still version 2.0.15 with a nice big red warning telling me about 2.0.19
The HTML inserts still play me about, the themes are lacking behind time only advertised as on this site for 7.5 and basically the system has very little changed to my current site which runs patched 7.6, running nearly all the original modules.
Some of the most popular scripts like AM, Coppermine, Gallery, NavTap etc etc were massive steps for the users of PHP-Nuke but we seem to have hit a rather large wall.

What is the future. Do we need to sit back and go for a more constructive change or do we tip toe along while other new content management systems catch up and possibly overtake.

Note: there is only one developer - FB. He does things that the Nuke community dislikes, especially with these latest releases. Often buggy, untested code that he sells has to be patched by the Nuke community

A lot of discussion has been going on about this, but no one can agree. While there are several distribution and projects running, I recommend taking a look at Raven's one. It has a very good base of developers behind it, with proper QA testing.

I have been waiting a while for the 3.2 patches to "bed in" before updating Approve_Membership. It seems now that the patches have had bugs reported and fixed. I was hoping that the patches would incorporate bbtonuke2.0.19 but this only seems to be in the 7.9-3.2 patches. I will be updating Approve_Membership 6.1.5-7.6 to Approve_Membership6.1.6-7.6 shortly. The 6.1.6 version will incorporate the 3.2 patches.

Well yes and no. There are some problems with the filtering in 3.2, but I'm working on correcting those minor issues. And of course, getting 2.0.19 worked in there as well

Can't wait to see the next version of Approve Membership though

Thanks for that Evaders. I will hang fire on the updates for a little while longer then........don't want to have to do it all again as soon as I get finished.
