I really need some help with an upgrade from 6.0 to something newer. Preferably something that will allow me to run the forums with php5. I have tried download upgrades on at a time starting with 6.5 and up. I get to around 7.1 or 7.2 and it tells me i have to upgrade the forums.. and when i try it just tells me to read the INSTALL.html file. Right now i have started over and upgraded to 6.7 and i go and look at my forums. they seem to be ok but when i click on a topic, there is nothing in the forums Sad What is the best solution to make sure i am doing this right. I have run the bbtnuke version 2.0.6 thats suggested in the documentation when upgrading from 6.0 to 6.5. So far nothing is working right Sad I am at a total loss here. Should i just download the latest version and run the upgrades sequentially from it? Any help would be much appreciated. Our site has been down now for 2 days because of this.

Hi

I want to help you here but Im concerned that the problems you are having are going to be endless.

What you are doing is a very high amount of upgrading, of course it is possible but it is easy to run into difficulty.

If you would like to list all your errors here then we can see if we can help, or alternatively if this is really a problem for you and you want it sorted straight away then you can contact me (for hire) via msn and we can discuss it further.

Regards

I will just try to start from here. The first thing i need to know is should i upgrade phpnuke first or bbtonuke ? Or should i do it in steps? upgrade phpnuke so far then upgrade bbtonuke then back to phpnuke etc..
I realize this is an old version of phpnuke (6.0) and bbtonuke (2.0.5).

Just to keep you updated to where i am and what i am doing. I have not messed with the phpnuke at all. I did managed to upgrade the phpnuke all the way up to version 2.0.19. Of course this is not the patched version. It seems i ran into more errors when trying to upgrade phpnuke. I would still like to very much upgrade the phpnuke now. Any suggestions or reccomendations?

ok, The way I usually do it is to upgrade the nuke version first.

Once that is running I upgrade the bbtonuke.

The thiung is when you upgrade your nuke version it also upgrades your bbtonuke at the same time, once you are running at (I recomend 7.6) you would be running bbtonuke 2.0.17 so you only have 2 versions of bbotnuke left to upgrade.

What are the specific issues you are having?

Well i seemed to be running into errors everytime i tried to upgrade. BTW i did _not_ upgrade the bbtonuke with the patched versions. Now that its working i can make a test server with all this and test all my upgrades. This was kind of a forced upgrade because the hardware was dying on the old box, and when i moved it, i moved it to a pretty updated box that runs php5 so the forums didnt work at all. I will keep you informed/updated.
