is what comes up in the address bar of the main forum page.
every other section/thread/post comes up strickly html..

what modrewrite line do i need to fix this?

First of all, i'd try and get some sites linking to your site

this shows how many pages are linking to your site

And I would put a text link somewhere down the bottom of the page for the forums, some spiders can read flash menus and stuff, but it would be a lot easier if they had a text link to follow

I would use this link: http://www.aussiev8.com.au/forums.html instead of http://www.aussiev8.com.au/gate.html?name=Forums

Are you using GT-NExtGEn? I am unfamiliar with any other GoogleTap software.
