This is odd, but after making a change or adding a user.... and clicking save, my admin page goes blank. It gives no verification of success nor an error of any kind.
I am talking a total white page (which says done at the bottom), with nothing on it at all.
Any ideas? |

hmmm, backed up a few pages to get back into admin. Checked to see if admin was added and it was not.
Tried adding a regular user and it worked fine. So, problem is centered around creating new admins.
This is a strange puzzle... |

I have read in another forum that Protector adds an entry to your DB. It adds radminblocker to your nuke_authors table. If you remove that you can add admins, (*HOWEVER*) *If you do remove that from the table, you will NOT beable to modify Protector* Therefore, if you do remove it you will have to readd it to the table in order to modify Protector |

fedup,
There are manual edits that you must make to three files during the installation before you can add or edit admins.
After you install protector and make the changes to your authors table in the database you will not be able to work with it again untill you make these manual edits.
These edits are explained in the documentation that comes with protector.
It's three files that need changing.
Have you edited these three files correctly according to the included instructions?
The symptom your describing is the same one everybody faces that messes up these manual edits. Or worse yet, skips them altogether.

Hello again Darrell,
Yes I edited the files. I followed the installation instructions to the letter. My site starting acting up almost immediately after installation (as mentioned in one of my previous postings)
Once I am convinced that my site is working as it should and "can be protected" (please view my last posting on the bottom of page http://nukecops.com/postt32474.html ) I may reinstall protector. If I feel it cannot, I may be looking for a different CMS altogether.
I like phpNuke, but...
Once bitten twice shy ya know...... |

I had version 1.15b2 installed.
I was told it could be disabled in the "modules" part of admin but... It was never listed in that section.
That is why I had to do a manual removal... |

fedup,
It is unfortunate to have to install a 3rd party program just to get a degeree of protection. I'm not all that happy about such a thing myself.
Good luck with your site whichever way you go.

One other thing, for future reference. When removing Protector, you can upload the installation file back into your root. Run the file by going to it directly. www.yoursite.com/phpnuke/installationfilename.php. You should be able to click Uninstall. Doing that will remove all changes to the DB (DB only), only things left are the manual changes done to the certain files that where instructed so in the installation text. |

I agree with you my friend but with the amount of talented people bent on causing destruction instead of being productive, what are we to do.
I would like to keep what I have running as I have to much "stuff" I would have to redo.
Maybe I can, who knows. If the protector team would care to use my site for testing... as long as they protect it, I am open for discussion on the matter. |

I'm having the same problem when I add a new admin, but I'm not using protector. Still haven't found out why it's happening. I'm using 7.3 |
