When I go and read a post on my site it doesn't register as read when you go back out to the main page. And when I make a post it shows that I have not read that post with the orange paper. Once I went logged into the forums and it showed all the new unread posts and I went to another section on my site and came back and it marked them with the white paper like I had read them. Help? This is happening to anyone who visits, members etc.

PHPNuke 6.5 with the phpbb that came with it 2.1 I think. Sec Fix 3
MySQL 3.23
PHP 4.X
Linux Server
Apache 1.4 I think not sure.

Could this be a Cookie issue?
There is a section in configurattion that says MySite.com under the cookies section. Should I change to my url? It sead that you can usually leave these settings alone so I did.

3.23 and 4.x don't really tell us anything. PHP4.x might be 4.04 which won't work with nuke 6.5. Apache 1.4 does not exist. Please be more specific. Post a link to Analyzer please.

Ok.
www.hernes72.net/analyze.php
Looks like I have some problems.
I can't do anything about the versions of PHP and MySQL but I can fix the other ones today. Anyway, can you help me with my problem?
Thanks

Your first one was spelled 'herNes72' instead of 'herMes72'. That was the problem. Wink

your problem isn't really a problem as such.

You'll find if u log out and leave ur site, and then log back in again, you'll have a completely new session ID, and posts should start to be marked as read when they're supposed to be.

As for when you leave the forums and re-enter them, this is because the forums and the site use different session cookies. If you're only moving between Forums, PMs and Members list, that's ok because the phpBB session cookie goes between all 3. However, if you leave the forums for more than a couple of mins, it can mean that the session you were on expires, and when you go back to the forums, you get a new session ID.

What you'll find is New Posts aren't just Unread Posts, but New Unread Posts SINCE YOU'RE LAST VISIT. Now, if you've got a new session ID, that's essentially a new visit, so all the "new" posts existed on your last visit, and it may assume that if you'd have wanted to read them, you would have done, and marks them read as such.

When I was using phpbb before it was external from my phpnuke 6.0 install and it functioned just like you think it would. your forums seem to be functioning as they should. Unread posts show as unread until I read them and then they show as read. It's just a real pain cause you read a post then go to the main forum index and it doesn't show you've read it, etc.

like I said in my last post.

If you log out, leave the site, then go back and log back in again, it shoudl go back to normal. It did for me on one of my test sites when I had that problem once.

Hi just reading through, this is exactly my problem, I can login enter forum read one post, go back to forum index, and other new posts which were marked unread have gone to read status, in a matter of seconds. The session time is set at 3600.

If i read one post, then go to the home page and come back they are read too.

This NEVER happens on this site, so there is something wrong, because this site woudl use same principles.

I really do need help to get this sorted.

I also don't understand the issue with the 2.0.4 file, I can't find a nuke version of that unless I'm going totally blind!

Thanks

Sara

Yes, help on this would be great. This doesn't seem to be an isolated incident.
Thanks
