Hi all. I've been searching and reading posts for the last 5 hours about how to fix the admin loop problem and am utterly confused.

Could someone please summarize the individual items that need to be fixed, please? I just did a fresh install on my W2k PC to test a site I'd like to upgrade from 6.5 to the 6.5 enhanced bundle and can't login as admin.

I'm not a hardcore nuker and I'm not on here often and it seems I am not understanding what needs to be fixed. Is it mainfile.php? Is it php.ini? Is it the link to Nukescripts (which is invalid btw)?

Your help is much appreciated! Thank you.

-Alberto

Hello, the way I've been used to fixing the admin loop issue is to close all web browsers. Right click on the IE desktop icon and select properties. Go in and clear out the cookies and temp files. Relaunch IE and it'll work -- at least for me.

Thanks for the info, but I'd like to fix the problem not drive myself crazy trying to remember the logins and passwords to every site I use on a daily basis. I tried what you suggested and it didn't work for me.

Is there a fix for this problem or does this mean we can't use the versions in the download area w/o having to deal with this?

I feel for ya Alberto! I've been having the same exact problem and so far no one can tell me how to fix it. I'm about to give up on Nuke entirely because of it. If i'm having this much trouble just logging in I can't wait to see how many other bugs Nuke has (if I ever even get it to work). >8>(

I have been having the same issue, I did a fresh install and the DB was completely clean before the sql input.
I put my information in and click on submit, but it kicks me right back to enter a new Super User....
If I get a good answer, I'll be sure to post it here....

I have searched the internet from top to bottom and I cannot find a legitimate solution to this admin loop problem. It just keeps looping over and over no matter what I do. In fact, it seems that NO ONE can find a solution to it, because one may not even exist.

I initially installed Nuke 7.5 and it worked fine. I had no admin login loop problem whatsoever. So, I decided to pay the $10.00 for Nuke 7.6. After racking my brains out with the admin login loop problem with that I deleted all of its contents from my site and uploaded Nuke Platinum and i'm experiencing the same problem with it.

I am able to create a regular user and login just fine. I only experience the login loop when trying to login as admin. My admin is indeed created, because I can see it when I view nuke_authors, as well as when I run analyze.php.

Things I have tried that did not work:

1) Firstly, I am 100% certain that I have everything configured correctly in config.php. Everything is configured exactly as I had it in Nuke 7.5 (which worked fine), with the exception of changing the name of the admin.php file, which I have done.

NOTE: Is it possible that this new added security feature in Nuke 7.6 +(changing the admin.php name, etc) might be the problem, seeing how you didn't have to do that in previous versions?

2) Cookies are enabled on my PC.

3) I have tried deleting all of my cookies, temporary internet files and offline content prior to trying to login AND prior to creating the admin initially. I have tried deleting all spyware prior to trying to login as well.

4) I have tried to run nuke Platinum locally with Inferno and it does the same exact thing as Nuke 7.6.

5) I have tried running Nuke Platinum and Nuke 7.6 both with my firewall shut off.

6) I installed Mozilla Firefox and tried running Nuke 7.6 and Nuke Platinum both with a completely different browser.

7) I have deleted my admin from within my database and created new ones repeatedly.

Cool I have tried deleting the specific cookies from within Nuke Platinum directly on the screen where they offer that as a solution to login problems.

9) I have tried allowing ALL cookies while creating my admin AND while trying to login.

10) I have deleted the database contents and replaced the SQL file, as well as all of the other files repeatedly. It was a fresh install every time and i've tried uploading the SQL file and creating the database BEFORE I uploaded the rest of the files and visa versa.

The only other thing I can think of other than a coding problem within Nuke itself, is maybe it's the firewall within my network hub. Is that possible? It doesn't seem likely to me. Other than that, could it be because I am trying to run nuke from a subdomain and not from my main domain? Again, 7.5 ran fine from a subdomain though....

This is getting very frustrating and judging by the amount of people that are having this same problem, I think it's a problem within the coding somewhere between versions 7.5 and 7.6 that seriously needs to be resolved by one of these PHPNuke teams who really knows what they are doing. I'm not sure if prior versions had the same problem though or not.

Can any of you "Nuke Savvy" people out there PLEASE make this problem go away?

i was also having this problem yesterday evening. firstly i created a temporary admin account using this advice as follows :

Regain your Site

To regain control of your admin account, you’ll have to reset your password in two authors table in your database, the author’s table is nuke_authors. The table name prefix 'nuke' is the standard prefix if you haven't made any changes to it when you installed PHP-Nuke. If you have changed the standard prefix, use your custom prefix instead. If your custom prefix is 'mysite', your table name will be mysite_authors.

You’ll find that your admin user name comes in the aid (admin id) column. You can do this using the mysql command (if you have telnet access or remote access) or with PHPMyAdmin (web based administration of MySQL).

Here’s a sample of what you would see in the nuke_author’s table.

AID Name URL EMAIL PWD

nick GOD http://www.site.com your@email.com dc647eb65e6711e155375218212b3964

PHP-Nuke uses the name GOD to signify that the user is a super-administrator who has access to all sections of the site. Edit the password field for the ‘GOD’ account and change it to dc647eb65e6711e155375218212b3964. This will reset the password for the super-admin user as Password. If you see any other admin users that you haven’t created, delete them immediately. The attacker could have created those admin users. To be on the safe side, delete all other administrator accounts other than your ‘GOD’ account. You can always create the additional admin accounts later, once you patch up and reopen your site.

i did that in phpmyadmin

however i found that i still could not logon. after reading your post , i first tried deleting cookies and temp files then compared the config file with a backup i have and seeing that it was as it should be i tried changing the gd setting for login to 2 , meaning only users have the graphic to compare with in an attempt to force the database to reset the admin part. i found that this worked in that following this , on my second logon attempt the newly created admin account worked.

to get out of the loop:

I posted a few threads below that might help. Including the glitch in god account password length. Your god password must be less than 10 characters. Also the header error has hurt a few people. I'm sure you have already updated or patched your 7.6 version, but if you haven't I would. I think nukeresources has it. I'm running 7.8 (what a nightmare) and this is how I fiexed my loop.

first: use phpmyadmin and access your database
second: On the left, you see a drop down box that says "Databases..." - click it and select your Nuke database (the name of your database). open the file tree
third: On the left, the uncollapsed file tree should appear - click on "nuke_authors"
forth: select the admin accounts, and empty them them. (i empty all admin not just god and start clean)
fifth: clean cookies, and then reenter your site via http://yoursitename/admin.php and enter your god account and password
sixth: less than 10 characters in god account password

http://www.nukeresources.com ==> download the latest patch for 7.6 there.
http://www.karakas-online.de/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1076 ==> this guy had the admin loop problem and solved it this way.
http://www.karakas-online.de/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1570&start=10 ==> your password can't be more than 9 characters or a glitch will occur in god account.

Hope this helps
