Hey,

My site is just about finished and I'm getting ready to list it in the search engines, but I want to install GT first.

Now... I've downloaded several things and I'm not sure what I'm supposed to be using to do the install.

First, I downloaded “Nukecops Google Tap Beta 6.5”.

This download contained a header, footer, htaccess and a credits file along with a new index.html file. It also contains two folders, one for Nuke 5.x and one for nuke 6.x and some text file of some changes I assume I need to make manually.

I was all set to ask some questions to relieve the numbing feeling I have in my head, like do the files upload as is or do I need to change them to .php files? Are the text files in fact needed manual changes, or are those the changes that the files are making? Where does .htaccess get uploaded?

Shocked

It was at this time I read a post that mentioned the cvs files. Am I to understand that these three files (i.e. header.GT, footer.GT and htaccess.GT) replace the other files I have downloaded... or are they in addition to the previous files?

Same questions still exist in my head... Do these files upload AS IS with the GT suffix, or do they need to be changed to .php files? Where does the htaccess.GT get uploaded to? Are there still manual changes to be coded after I upload the files?

Confused

My head is freakin’ spinning. I've been reading these posts for hours and to be completely honest with you, they are only confusing me... I would almost be willing to pay for a tutorial at this point.

Thanks,

Dan

No they are the newest GT in the cvs. Use them to replace the others.

Okay then...

Confused

The newest GT files are the ones to use.

header.GT and footer.GT get uploaded to my main directory.
I then rename them to .php files correct?

What directory does the htaccess.GT get uploaded to?
I'm sorry for some reason I can't see .htaccess files, and when I upload them they just disappear from the directory. I don't get that. Does .htaccess have to be renamed prior to uploading the file?

At this point I'm done? There's no coding that has to be done? No sql to be ran? Just upload these three files and get out of the way of the spiders huh?

Wink

Thanks again for your help!

Dan

Hi'ya, all the three files get placed in the root nuke folder. So long as your mod_rewrite is enabled and .htaccess allowed, GT will work. Smile

yea and if no luck with the GT files, try the plain files, then if you have the same luck as I did, you then upload them all from your H/D and into the trash bin and delete the pheckers.....if nothing else you will sleep better....

Hey,

Well, I know htaccess is allowed, been there before Wink but mod_rewrite? I don't know what this is. Is mod_rewrite something I would have to enable... like in the nuke, or is this a server side thing? If it's a server side deal I should be okay, Dr2.net doesn't really restrict too much server access and they running pretty full featured. I have maybe too much access. Embarassed

BTW since I mentioned them... Dr2.net, great host, and cheap too.

Thanks for the info. ZX,

PEACE!
