I just modified the following lines:
cvs -d :pserver:anonymous@cvs.nukecops.com:/home/cvs login

cvs -d :pserver:anonymous@cvs.nukecops.com:/home/cvs status betaNC > betaNC-$today.status

with:
cvs -d :pserver:anonymous:anonymous@cvs.nukecops.com:/home/cvs login

cvs -d :pserver:anonymous:anonymous@cvs.nukecops.com:/home/cvs status betaNC > betaNC-$today.status



No .password files to mess with, nothing... works like a charm.
