I have tested several ways of getting pages listed in search engines and dynamic page titles did not work for me for this reason:
If you look at the top of the page you can see:
nuke cops\forums\suggestions\dynamic title tags
If you switch to viewing stories archives then you see:
nuke cops\ need to speed up loops dramatically\try duffs advice
So although the dynamic titles work to an extent you always get "your site name" prefacing the html title. So it's difficult to get rankings for popular terms because your site title is always in the page title. If that makes sense!
The work around I used - and this certainly will not suit a lot of people - is to remove the site name in "preferences", create a blank topic category (otherwise your news gets the topic category preface) and dispense with dynamic titles.
This presents it's own set of problems in that several pages like the "top" page have "welcome to the top page for" because the site title is missing in preferences and the news is not sorted in topics. However you could get around the second part by assigning related topics.
It's messy I know, but it works for me and any news posted today gets listed in google tomorrow - with the correct page title - and that is a big trade off.
