My webhosting company says "Sorry for the inconvenience. Due to some security reasons mod_rewrite cannot be enabled in our server. " Mad

Suggestions anyone, I really want this GoogleTap.

What security reasons could they possibly mean???

It can sometimes be used to access any file on the webserver by an attacker.

There isnt a work around for it and if they wont install it the other option is to change hosts.
It depends on how badly you want Google Tap.

Looking through a number of hosting companies and none seem to advertise the fact they use Mod_Rewrite...Please direct me to the ones that you may be aware of.

Mod_rewrite is part of a Apache but it is a seperate loadable module (and thus easily turned on and off)

For a web host that has mod_rewrite active,
