Everything works PC but on Unix server strange problem with updating some tables.

Cannot add Content module pages. I submit the new content but nothing updates in DB. But much must be working because new users get to database, ...

Is there a place to set debug so that I get MySQL error messages?

Does Content use "transactions". I do not see that it does but I have had problems with transactions on older mysql's in past.

Check and see if you have extra fields in your tables that are not updating. I had that trouble when I tried to update a database where in my case IndyNews had added an extra field to the Stories table. After I dropped the extra field the upgrade script ran fine.

The files/tables between PC and Unix are the same.

The potential causes are different versions of PHP and MySql.

There MUST be a debug on parameter somewhere?

The welcome thread has instructions for enabling debug messages.

What da ya know? RTFM. debug ON and reveals NO error message. But somehow the cause of choking on HTML becomes apparent. And, bull's eye - the Content manager import boxes do say TEXT atop them.

So I've enabled magic_quotes_gpc in the root apache file. HTML content is being handled. Anyone know if enabling magic_quotes_gpc in the root apache file this is going to cause me problems elsewhere?[/b]

In fact just the opposite. You can always use htaccess to enable it in specific directories. I won't post the gory details as they are easy enough to find.
