Nothing really big, but I noticed a problem with users that have post counts over 1000 seem to go in reverse after a moderator deletes old posts.

For example: A user having a post count of 1500 would go down to 1400 after old posts are deleted. This means that each post deleted subtracts from the users total amount of posts.

Any idea why this is happening?

Thanks

That's the default phpbb software. When you delete posts, they are subtracted. Its not specific to just the port.

just as a further note: if you think about it, that's quite a good idea because if u see a user with 1400 posts, you might want to know where they've posted, and if u can only find say 500 of their posts cause the rest have been deleted, you'd be fairly annoyed no? (thinking of it as you not knowing that they'd been deleted just the posts not being there when they "should" be.

I wonder why users with less than a 1000 posts keep their post count even when old posts have been deleted. This kind of seems unfair to the veteran user. On my forum we look at posts almost like they would be kind of like a rank. Thanks for the responses though Smile.

I will post on phpBB2's forum and see what they have to say.

there's a problem with looking @ post numbers as if they were ranks - especially if they're on a site like this. Large post numbers can mean 2 things on this site - either somebody who knows what they're doing, or somebody who doesn't have a clue and doesn't try stuff b4 they come here for help. Hence why ranks are seperate in a way Wink

ROFL - From that perspective I can see your point. My site is only for a gaming clan which I am a member of. Some of our members have built their post counts up over the past 2 years and would like to continue doing so. Considering I am the webmaster for our site.... I feel a certain obligation to give my good friends what they want. I will continue my search to resolve this problem as I find it more fascinating each time I learn something new.

Thanks again Smile
