Okay, (self-professed) n00b, you clicked the button in your Cpanel and it installed 6.0 for you. That's the smartest thing you ever did! Most ppl try to install Nuke themselves and become life-long CMS haters because of the experience.

If you're really a n00b, play around with it and figure out how it works. This should take you a couple of weeks. After you're comfortable with your new knowledge, then you can upgrade to something newer. I suggest 6.5. That's what I run and I like it just fine.

After you're comfortable with 6.5, then you can start patching, hacking, tweaking and all the sort of stuff us 'experts' love to do so much. Wink

You gotta learn how to walk before you can run, you know?

Yeah, PHP-Nuke is a beautiful program, but the script kiddies just love to hack it. It's like when you buy a new car and some idiot just can't wait to run a key down it, or smash a shopping cart into the side. That's the way it is. Some ppl can't stand it when someone else has something nice, you know?

Anyway, yeah 6.0 (unpatched) is pretty much wide open to attack. It was secure when it came out, but everyone has figured out the weaknesses by now.

It's an ongoing process. You stick our finger in a hole and another leak pops up elsewhere. It's a cat 'n' mouse game we play with the hackers. There is no true security on the Internet.

That sounds like the old "admin loop" issue. There are many posts here discussing this exact issue.

I am also facing the same situation. I have installed Nuke 6.0 from a cpanel. I want to upgrade to 6.9. I have been messing with it for a few weeks now and am getting nowhere. Is there a tutorial somewhere? The upgrade directions that come with nuke don't make sense to me, and I am a BIG n00b to php and sql....so, I need a lifeline here!
