Trying to install MySql 4.0 server from http://www.mysql.com/downloads/mysql-4.0.html[/url]
This is a RPM installation file located under Linux x86 rpm header. Other files include the client and devel packages.

Since I ran the analyze.php and got vunerability errors, decided to install the new sql 4.0

During the install I get the message "libmysqlclient.so.10 not found"

This linux system is using Red Hat 8.0 full install (everything). I made no changes to the directories for installation. The system has been updated to the latest patches from RH.

The file libmysqlclient is located at /usr/lib/mysql/ and this is the only location.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks,
ctippen

wish I could help you, but I don't know enough about MySQL under Linux to be of any use.

Maybe Zhen or Chatserv would be able to help Smile

4.0 is gamma version, to be used for development only. You should go with the stable 3.23 series.

Thanks guys for the info.

Downloaded 3.32.55 rpms but now I get the message a newer client version is already installed, which is the client 4.0 version. I have tried to remove packages through Red Hat Package manager. ( I am a newbie at this and use mostly the gui). Since the packages of mysql has been removed, or it says it has. How can I remove the client 4.0 version.

Thanks again,
Ctippen

Yeah you have to run the rpm uninstall command for mysql 4.0. I know you said you did it, but if its still installed it may not have been run correctly?
