I am running a gallery 1.3.3 module with no success. My server does not have NetPBM installed and I have tried remote gallery to no evail. I need some basic guidance through this one as I need to get my gallery up and running. I have ImageMagick which the config script sees and recognizes as being the latest version however it will not recognize NetPBM weather installed or even the older verison on my server. I am at a loss for how to make this thing work.

I am running on a virtual server Server
Host: ez10.ez-web-hosting.com (209.51.142.162) Database Host: localhost (127.0.0.1)
Server OS: Linux 2.4.18 Database: MySQL 3.23.54
Server Date: 01/17/2003 01:39:06 Datebase Date: 01/17/2003 01:39:06
Server Up Time: 1:39am up 42 days, 11:15, 0 users, load average: 0.33, 0.32, 0.33

HTTP Server: Apache/1.3.26 (Unix) mod_bwlimited/1.0 PHP/4.2.2 mod_log_bytes/0.3 FrontPage/5.0.2.2510 mod_ssl/2.8.9 OpenSSL/0.9.6b
PHP Version: 4.2.2 (Zend: 1.2.0)

Can anyone help me with this one.

JM

Welcome aboard, first question I have is, if your server won't install the required mods, do you need to run that specific gallery? I'm sure there are others we can look at?

Ok, lets take it up in the morning then, but in the meantime, can you post links to the files you've mentioned. I want to see what it is you grabbed for your site.

I am using Gallery version 1.3.3 tar.gz.
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=7130

And have also tried the version of gallery remote
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/gallery/InstallGalleryRemote.Linux.VM.bin?download

PHPNuke version6.0 with PortedBB2 version 2.0.6 and you already have all my server capabilities information. Thanks again. I work another job so I may be hard to get hold of. I will try to make contact sometime in the afternoon.

NetPBM binaries can be downloaded at the gallery homepage, i have gallery installed at my irc site and all i did for NetPBM was to make sure i uploaded the files in binary mode and chmod them to 755 (else they won't work), i uploaded it to my main dir (same place where config.php is, i recall one of the binaries needs to be renamed for jpeg images to be resized, if you don't manage to get it working by tonite when i should be back i'll guide you through it.

Gallery 1.3.3 should be no problem to set up on your server as long as the Safe Mode disabled.
Tricky to get it running if they have safe mdoe enabled.

Anyway. The use of netpbm is wonderful for generating the thumbnails automatically. The CPU usage is a tank, but imagemagik is a little more tricky to setup and run.
Although, a lot of servers do have imagemagik installed. You may want to check on that.

Another gallery is My_eGallery, which has been implemented to work with PHP-Nuke but the developer no longer supports it. There are a couple spawns from it that a couple other users have taken on to the next level, but the support and quality of gallery is only found in Gallery from menalto. By far, the best organized and best supported and documented gallery. IMO. Wink

I would suggest trying Gallery from menalto again.

Have you even tried to upload the netpbm binaries for your OS Linux?
http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/gallery/netpbm1.1-gallery1.0-linux2.2-redhat6.2-intel.tgz?download
biggest one BTW, hehe

just upload them to a new folder and chmod the files 755 so they can be executed. You will have to manually put the path to netpbm in the second screen of the setup, the initial screen in the setup configuration won't see it by default.
If the setup wont start up for some reson try deleting the htacces file in the setup folder.

Great gallery when you get it running. Smile
