I currently run the NC6.5 Bundle. I am getting to "release my website to my organization" but, my question is should I upgrade before I release the website?

I have modified the mainfile.php as well as a couple of other files. Is there a way not to loose those changes?

Can someone upload or post a link to the readme files or list the major changes in the most recient version. From 6.5?

Would it be worth it for me to wait until 7.0 to upgrade?

Thanks!

Personally I would wait, especially if you have a heavily modified mainfile. You are going to need to diff each time a new release comes out to make sure you aren't changing anything, otherwise they will be overwritten each time.

I am planning to stay with 6.5 in production until the 6.9/7.0 are a bit more stable.

Run a test of 6.9 or 7 before moving.

I'm still with a heavily modified 5.6 nuke site, because I seen many issues with nuke 6+. However I had to edit my site to use the new 6.0+ modules.

Like VinDSL said, if it isnt broke dont fix it.
