Functional question about GT and FT

Basic question:

If I modify my site per the FT/GT code, will all of the links to my site from other sites break?

In other words, I have dozens of other sites linking to my stories via forums, backend xml, and generic hard-coded links. Will all of these break?

While being crawled more extensively by Google is of interest, the hassle of finding/fixing these links is going to be a pain.

Hi those links won't break at all because they still exist. They simply won't be displayed is all.
