Hello!
I have a problem with google tap , when i am trying to go to the topics ,
web links or download section , i am getting the 404 page error .
The links r in html (mysite.xxx/download.html etc.) . I dont have this
problem with the forums section nor i haven`t got the html end of file .
(which solve the problem ).
I saw in another topic that the problem could be mod_rewrite?! i tried to
look it up in the phpinfo ( i am using LYCOS SERVER) and i didnt find any
apache info or mod info.
is lycos using this mod?!how can i tell?
my site is in hebrew so i dont publish the link.
google tap support another language?
thanks/ |

Yes you need mod_rewrite built into your Apache. |

Is there a way i can check if mod_rewrite is enabled on my server? Or do i have to email my WebHost and ask them??
I am using IPOWERWEB so if anyone else has got this to work on that host please let me know..

I'm using a trial acccount from flexihostings.net to see if I can get googletap to work too, as my current host doesn't allow mod_rewrite to work in the .htaccess files (I get server error 500 if I try it). As I'm looking to change hosts that will allow nuke w/googletap to work properly.
With the trial from flexihostings I installed the NC5 beta with googletap, I don't get the server errors, but get the 404 messages when using the archives, downloads and various other links.
I checked the php info, and it shows the mod_rewrite module loaded for Apache.
How can we tell if it was built into apache, or whatever the term is when it is not working properly? |

Hi folks.. basically you need two things for .htaccess to work right:
mod_rewrite
AllowOverride All
The first is compiled into Apache, the second is a setting within httpd.conf. |

Thanks for the info Paul.
I'll go ahead and look into setting up a real account with them, i figure it's something with the trial server config, since it is just a 3 day thing they let you sign up for, and may not have the servers fully setup like they do for the regular production servers. |
