As ZX said, it's all moot now because FB is now releasing ALL versions after the 30 days. See, public opinion does matter. Thanks to everyone for expressing their views with passion, but also with courtesy!
I have mixed thoughts about the capitulation, as it lowers his means for making a buck, (and I'm a died in the wool capitalist) The other side of the coin, is reducing conflicts, for the slam bam, thank you mum groups, which is far larger and louder.
SO....ask yourself. Why is it always the creator and producer that is the victim, while the masses slink along with a U owe ME attitude, and their hands out!?

I still have something to say on this, but I'm going to put it in a more relevant thread. The nature of the club and rels 6.6 and 6.7 are about three degrees of separation away from the original thread.

By having tainted copies floating around because of the limited distribution, it not only gives the project an overall bad rep but also him as well. It stifles people from creating addons and themes for the closed releases. It was a bad business decision to close off minor releases and a good one to rescind it.
The majority of those who use open source software are only interested in themselves and never contribute back in anyway. At least 50-60% would rather do without than to pay a red cent for anything. Hiddened in the masses though is a group who will gladly pay for certain things. These are the people you focus on and nuture and provide services/products they need. You don't treat everyone like they're dirt and expect people to willingly hand over their money.
FB has a huge following but for some weird reason won't tap into the expertise of users' who happen to run successful businesses. He is an island.
