Hi I am also having a problem with changing themes, Ive install a few phpnuke sites now so this particular problem has never accured & Ive tried everything to fix it I know.
Ive uploaded several new themes to try out, the one I want to use is BricK.
I uploaded all my themes to the themes folder as Ive done on a few other sites with no sweat.
But when I attempt to change it in My Account nothing happens it stays on the same theme I have running now.
If I attempt to do it via admin I end up getting a SAFE MODE Restriction & the only way to fix it is to go into myphpadmin & change the nuke_config settings.
So I decided to upgrade it to 6.6 to see if that fixes the problem so I uploaded all the files & then using my browser to go to mysite.com/html/upgrade65-66.php.
But when I do so I get this.
Warning: SAFE MODE Restriction in effect. The script whose uid is 537 is not allowed to access ./mainfile.php owned by uid 0 in /home/virtual/site32/fst/var/www/html/html/upgrade65-66.php on line 15
Warning: Failed opening 'mainfile.php' for inclusion (include_path='.:/php/includes:/usr/share/php') in /home/virtual/site32/fst/var/www/html/html/upgrade65-66.php on line 15
Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in /home/virtual/site32/fst/var/www/html/html/upgrade65-66.php on line 18
Guys Ive tried everything I know even reinstalling the whole site but same probs every time.
Its bugging the hell out of me & I dont know any more things to try.
If anyone can help I would apprecizate it.

The safe mode restriction is a control placed on you by your host to keep you locked into what directories you can change. I would contact them and tell them you're having this problem. It is probably is a setup error on your account. Two other things. Is your config.php file in the nuke root? And are all the files you are attempting to access in the nuke root directory? |

Raven I admin also the host it is my server, Ive set up PHPnukes on the exact same type of site before without this error.
The config.php is in root where its supposed to be I think, basically I uploaded the files as I would normally in my case they go to the mainwesite_html folder thats the name of the folder similar to public_html just a different name, the default index.html file is located there.
If this is a restriction by me any idea how I would correct it, that folder is chmod 777 just to point out also.
Thanks Raven. |

also, this is from the php.ini:
;
; Safe Mode
;
safe_mode = Off
; By default, Safe Mode does a UID compare check when
; opening files. If you want to relax this to a GID compare,
; then turn on safe_mode_gid.
safe_mode_gid = Off
Try setting safe_mode_gid = On |

I never heard that safe_mode on or off would make any difference when installing and/or editing the MySQL database.
When safe_mode is set to on, a script can't make a file on the 'fly'.
That can only be done with a few other tricks.
Of course if you control your site, it could be that the part where your database files are stored are set to read (444) only.
You said you get errors about mainfile.php not found or whatever.
Did you copy upgrade65-66.php to the root of your phpNuke setup?
If you did not, do it and try again. |

Yip I had that file in the root & yet no go, so I did a database back up & reinstalled the entire site & that did the trick.
If at first you dont succeed go back & start again.
Thanks guys. |

This may be a stupid thought, and I know you've solved it, but I was puzzling over your thread too, and I wondered whether certain privileges
may have somehow been revoked for the nuke mysql user? It was when you said you couldn't change other things aswell. |

I'm having the same problem. I used to be able to change themes now I can't.
I'm using 6.5 and I installed the mainfile.php linked from this post but same problem.
I have tried changing both from admin and your account and restarted pc and all that.
Like mentioned by someone else in this post the last thing I installed was also event calendar.
Site is www.lamped.com help! |

Thanks but none of it seems to be really relevent. I'm not 100% event calendar is what is causing the problem. Everything else runs fine, just the theme wont change. |
