Actually 5 if you count the one in "How many times did I type changes? lmao" but who's counting? anyway thanks for the feedback AI, those are good news and if this upgrade script works we'll have another useful tool thanks to all the beta testing done by Mikem and your insights, we are truly setting the standards for what teamwork should be (even if some of us have mental issues).

Ive got Beta 7 running on my main site now. It's got no database changes as far as I can see (I only replaced the files, and so far it all seems to be working a-ok - didn't touch the database at all).

Thats' great news.
FB doesn't specify any DB changes in teh notes either. Just that he removed the Chat alltogether and applied all the fixes you guys fixed here at nukecops...which I figured was the biggest part of the change to beta7.
Heck we are probably pretty close to beta7 now with all the Fixes applied to beta6 Razz
Which I had already done from the get go on my test site.

On my test site I uploaded all Beta6 files, the Uploaded all the FIXES from nukecops over the top...EVERYTHING seems to be workign flawlessly so far.

Oh Hey AI.
4 is right...also. The Tarball thing? How do I make one? I downloaded the Utility tarball maker GTAR for Windows, but when I try to run it, all I get is a Prompt window pop up real quick, then nothing... Rolling Eyes

you'll have to excuse Zhen's lack of instructions for that util. it's not good anyway cause it doesn't support filenames longer than the old 8.3 format (filenames of 8 chars plus extensions).

To use it u have to run it from a command shell (command prompt). I got fed up with it after 2 tars being messed up so I downloaded and installed Linux Mandrake 9 and use that to create my tarballs

I uploaded the fixed Upgrade script for Nuke 6.0 with phpBB port 2.0.6 to Nuke 6.5 in ZIP format. It's on the server here now.

hmm,,,that's close. It creates the tar file, but when I extract the contents. I get a folder like my directory structure to the tarred directory, but in the nukebbsql folder, which is supposed to be tarred, there is one unknown filetype file in there...I think you're right on this not working right...

Yeah you were right about the filenames longer than 8 char.
I renamed all files to less than 8 char. and it TAR fine.

Ok mikem, so what is your verdict on the updater? Feel it's good enough to release?

Well, I did as I said. Dropped my DB and re-uploaded my saved one from Nuke6 and 2.0.6 port.
Then ran your upgrade script again.
It ran flawlessly!!
So I say yes it's ready for release, pending NO more DB changes by FB prior to final release of 6.5
But it definately works right now for upgrading to 6.5 from 2.0.6 port with Nuke6

WHOA!!!!!!!!
Don't release it yet!
I found a problem..Kinda small but we may want to fix it.

NONE of the Forum posts got saved,
I neglected to check because when I go into the Forums, under the Forum categories it DOES show 1 post in each of my test forums, BUT when you go into the Forum, there is NO post! YIKES>
I only figured it out because I was trying to get the Forums recent posts block to work but it wasn't showing any of my posts.

this "might" be a problem..lol

Here's why

Code:
mysql_query("DROP TABLE if exists ".$prefix."_bbtopics");
mysql_query("CREATE TABLE ".$prefix."_bbtopics (topic_id mediumint(Cool unsigned NOT NULL auto_increment, forum_id smallint(Cool unsigned NOT NULL default '0', topic_title char(60) NOT NULL default '', topic_poster mediumint(Cool NOT NULL default '0', topic_time int(11) NOT NULL default '0', topic_views mediumint(Cool unsigned NOT NULL default '0', topic_replies mediumint(Cool unsigned NOT NULL default '0', topic_status tinyint(3) NOT NULL default '0', topic_vote tinyint(1) NOT NULL default '0', topic_type tinyint(3) NOT NULL default '0', topic_last_post_id mediumint(Cool unsigned NOT NULL default '0', topic_first_post_id mediumint(Cool unsigned NOT NULL default '0', topic_moved_id mediumint(Cool unsigned NOT NULL default '0', PRIMARY KEY  (topic_id), KEY forum_id (forum_id), KEY topic_moved_id (topic_moved_id), KEY topic_status (topic_status), KEY topic_type (topic_type))");

that part of the script did not Update the bbtopics table, it dropped it. oops
