Regsitration - Email Problems

I purchased 8.1 and installed. Install went well, could not register an account, it would not e-mail to the new registered users. I deleted the installation and installed an old version I had on my computer from a few years ago. That installed as well no issues but still couldn't register.

Do you guys know of any reason why the registration confirmation e-mail wouldn't send? No errors during the creation of the account. SQL tables are working fine. Users are moved to the temp file until confirmation is completed. Something after you click finish is not working.

I set up admin e-mail addresses and everything. I have been working with my provider but for 6 days neither of us can come up with a decent conclusion or repair. As always your help would be awesome. Thanks everyone.

phpNuke uses the local mail() function of PHP. Make sure it is enabled and is sending correctly. Also certain email services may block other servers (hotmail, yahoo, etc..). You will have to talk to those services if you are blacklisted.

I have already hit them with that. I am waiting for a reply regardless. I just hit them with it again. I am waiting to hear for now. If you have any other advice let me know please!

the software must authenticate with the smtp server using your cpanel username and password, IF the software is unable to do this it will not be allowed to sendmail. Im sorry but if the software cant login to the smtp server it wont be able to send mail.

"This is a message sent by my service provider. Now what do I do, because in the preferences there is no location for a username and password. Which file or files can I hard code to make this happen, and what do I have to do?"

So is anyone familiar with this issue? Anyone ever have this same problem? What did you do to fix it? Searched hundreds of websites. I am about ready to uninstall and call it a day (2 weeks)!

I too am having this problem execept its probably due to my total lack of knowing what Im doing. I figured I would post my issue here rather than create another top with exact same title.

So far all my changes have been in the forums configuration which might be my problem. The first issue is I dont know what to set user activaiton to: none, user, or admin. also I dont know how to check if local mail is activated but i figure since it dont work with a fresh install I probably have to use smtp(dont know what that is either). firt I put in what the cpanel calls my outgoing mail server which is mail.fubarclancss.clanservers.com and I copy and paste that. Then I put in my username which is (name)+fubarclancss.clanservers.com. My password which I assume is the password for the email account and not the cpanel password. After all that I still get nothing, I figure its because Im retarded and can't figure this out.

simply don't let this sendmail problem bug you and install an addon that works around. i don't know the rules of this forums and because it is 4 a.m. i'm not gonna read em now...so i hope this link is ok for everyone

This is driving me mad.. I've spend hours searching for the answer. The new sign ups are not getting there confrimation emails..

Any help is greatly appreciated..
